Pediatric After-Hours Options

We know that things often happen when we are closed-those Friday night fevers or weekend injuries. There are several options available if you need us after hours.

Non-Premier Pediatric Options

While we prefer you contact our office first for your child's healthcare needs, we understand sometimes another option is best for your family. Here are some facilities that we recommend.

  • Texas Children’s Urgent Care: If your child needs to be seen while we are closed-this is one of our favorite options and they provide excellent care! TCH Urgent Care is staffed by board-certified pediatricians and nurses and they can address acute illnesses such as abdominal pain, upper respiratory illnesses, asthma, ear pain, allergic reactions, rashes, minor burns in addition to broken bones, stitches, and IV fluids. We have been very pleased by the care given there and they always communicate with us to keep us in the loop after your child’s visit.
  • Dell Children’s Medical Center: Dell Children’s Hospital is the primary hospital for children in Austin. If your child needs to be admitted to the hospital for any reason, this is where you will need to go. If your older child has a minor problem (i.e.. needs stitches or an x-ray for a possible broken bone), it is fine to go to a closer regional ER. Know that “outside” ERs often don’t have pediatricians on staff and certainly not pediatric specialists. If your child is very sick (fever in the first 2 months of life, breathing problems, possible appendicitis, serious head injury etc.) then you need to go to Dell. If you are considering going to any ER, we recommend that you call us first (at any time day or night) so we can help get you to the right place.
  • North Austin Medical Center Children's ER: St. David’s Children’s Hospital provides routine emergency care, inpatient and intensive care to children 17 years and under. The entrance to the pediatric ER has its own entrance, separate from the adult ER.
