Cara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at Vanderbilt University. Following graduation, she attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. She then completed her residency in Houston, Texas at Baylor College of Medicine. While there, she trained at Texas Children’s Hospital which consistently ranks as one of the top 4 Pediatric Hospitals in the US. She was exposed to a wide range of both common and uncommon pediatric illnesses. After completion of her residency, Cara joined the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital as a pediatric hospitalist. She worked as a hospitalist for 8 years and gained experience in managing complex patients with a variety of medical issues. In addition to her clinical work, Cara has a passion for medical education and patient safety and she served as a course director for several medical student courses at Baylor College of Medicine. She earned various leadership positions as well as teaching awards during her time in Houston. Cara realized that while she loved her job, she was missing the opportunity to form lasting bonds with her patients and their families as a hospitalist. For this reason, she decided to transition to an outpatient setting.

In July 2020 she relocated back home to Austin where she and her husband both grew up. Cara has loved the opportunity to raise her children close to family and is excited to care for children in her hometown and community. She and her husband, Travis, live in Bee Cave with their three children; Callan, Coyer, and Emery. They enjoy being outside, going on the lake, traveling, and spending quality time with their families and friends.

Care Philosophy

"I believe that caring for children is a team effort with parents being a very important part of that team. The relationship a family has with their pediatrician is crucial to the well-being of their child and collaboration is key to helping your child thrive and grow. Along those same lines, knowledge is power. I strive to empower parents through education, support, and honesty. I pride myself in being approachable and family-centered in my care of children. Being a mom myself, I understand the need for flexibility and creativity and I want to help make their experience at the doctor’s office a positive one, no matter the reason for the visit."
